But now it's a tank and I have my Imac hanging a few inches over the lip of my meter bridge and it's greatly improved my ability to see the monitor. Thanks for the tips. I mounted mine to the back of my 300 pound console and had to bolt the console to the floor as well as reinforce the 3/4" back wood panel before I was satisfied with the overall stability.

I'm guessing that desk has a 1/2" chipboard top and I'd worry that it's not strong enough. the Imac is 30 pounds and the arm is probably 10-15 pounds which will put some serious torque on the wood it's mounted on once you start moving the monitor around. Keep in mind, though, that the Imac is really heavy and you might need to reinforce your desk to mount an arm to hold it. Ebay's a good place to buy, as I got mine new ($80 shipped) for around half of the normal list. I recently bought an Ergotron MX and it works very well with the 27" Imac (you'll need a VESA adaptor for the Imac, as with most/all monitor arms) and is a serious piece of engineering.
